Chelsea star Eden Hazard had a season to forget last year, but the Belgian ace is showing signs that he’s ready to play a leading role for Antonio Conte.

The 25-year-old was on target twice for the Blues in their International Champions Cup clash with Real Madrid on Saturday, albeit in a disappointing 3-2 defeat.

Nevertheless, after showing at Euro 2016 that he was seemingly back on the right path towards reaching the levels he displayed in the Premier League the season before last, he looks in good health and motivated to do well for the Blues.

Both goals were similar in that Hazard used his pace and cleverness to beat the offside trap and get in behind the Real defence, before keeping his composure to round the goalkeeper and slot home and reduce Chelsea’s deficit.

Conte will be delighted to see a positive reaction from the Belgian winger, as he will undoubtedly have a crucial role to play in the Italian’s success in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

It will be a major boost to see Hazard producing, and it will certainly give the entire squad a lift as they look to improve significantly on last season.

If their under-performing star individuals from last year are able to play at a high level and set the tone for the rest of the group by making a decisive impact, then Conte will be confident that he can lead them to success over the next nine months or so.
