Galatasaray starlet Bruma has revealed that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho praised him privately after the pre-season game at the weekend.
United ran out 5-2 winners over the Turkish giants, but the Portuguese tactician was seemingly impressed with his compatriot’s performance.
The 21-year-old struggled to make a decisive impact last year but gained valuable playing time during a loan spell with Real Sociedad, making 33 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals while providing one assist.
Having seemingly found his feet in pre-season with Gala, he will hope to enjoy a better season this time round, and he will be boosted by Mourinho’s words of praise.
“He congratulated me for the performance and said he was impressed with me. He promised to closely monitor my work and said I could play for the national team soon,” he told Fanatik.
While it’s not quite enough to suggest that the 53-year-old is ready to move for the winger and take him to Old Trafford, it will certainly be interesting to see whether or not he changes his mind in the future.
Evidently, Mourinho has seen something he likes in Bruma in order to go out of his way to praise him, and so for the benefit of the Portuguese national team at the very least, he will hope that he can continue to mature and develop his game and become a real threat on the European stage.
As for Mourinho’s transfer market, he’ll be content with the options that he has at his disposal in that department given the signings of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, and so perhaps it’s merely nothing more than the ‘Special One’ giving credit where it’s due as opposed to anything deeper.
