Aside from being one of the best tacticians in world football today, Jamie Redknapp has revealed a lesser known fact about Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician gave himself the moniker of the ‘Special One’ on his arrival in England ahead of his first spell with Chelsea back in 2004.
Having gone on to live up to that label with countless trophies following on from his early success at Porto, Mourinho will now hope to continue that run at Old Trafford.
However, apparently he’s known by a different name by some of his former players which will undoubtedly get a few giggles out of regular viewers tuning into A League of Their Own.
Host James Corden asked: “Jamie, your cousin Frank (Lampard) obviously knows him well. Has he ever let on that he’s a hopeless romantic?”
Redknapp replied: “He actually told me that he’s the ‘gifted one’, not the Special one.” Asked why, he explained: “Because he’s carrying.”
Cheers for that Jamie, fascinating insight as always…
