Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to offload Phil Jones in January according to The Sun.

Per-the-source, Mourinho wants to sell the England international defender who is currently sidelined with a knee ligament problem.

Jones currently earns £110,000-a-week at Old Trafford and has three-years remaining on his contract with the Red Devils.

The Sun also states that 24-year-old’s is being closely monitored by both Arsenal and Liverpool who are ‘ready to swoop’.

The former United manager Alex Ferguson once described Jones in the following terms, “You saw Jones tonight. Arguably, the way he is looking, he could be our best ever player.”

Jones has so far failed to live up to the legendary managers praise and could be on his way out of the club in January.

Manchester United take on Northampton in the League Cup tomorrow as they look to avoid their forth consecutive defeat before facing Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.
