Former Tottenham winger who was named PFA Player of he year twice signs new contract

Wales talisman Gareth Bale has signed a contract extension with La Liga giants Real Madrid

The former Tottenham winger, who was named PFA Player of the year on two occasions during his time in the Premier League, has extended his stay at the Bernabeu until 2022.

Bale has been involved in two Champions League triumphs for Real Madrid, in 2014 and 2016. He also played a pivotal role for his country in the European Champions this summer, as Wales reached the semi-finals – an unprecedented feat.

The 27-year-old has certainly earned himself a new contract in Madrid. In La Liga last season, he scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists in just 23 appearances. That works out as a direct goal contribution every 59.8 minutes, even better than Lionel Messi who provided one every 64.9 minutes.

His side currently sit top of the table in La Liga, two points ahead of nearest challengers Barcelona.
