Barcelona court files tax fraud claim against Alexis Sanchez for dodging figure worth more than six weeks pay at Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez has become the latest Barcelona player past or present to be scrutinised over his tax dealings.

Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano have already been fined and handed suspended jail sentences, while Samuel Eto’o and Adriano are also being looked at.

According to El Periodico, the court of Barcelona has now filed a complaint against Alexis for alleged tax fraud to the sum of €983,443.

The evasion is alleged to have taken between 2012 and 2013.

According to a conversion calculated by BBC Sport, €983,443 works out as £888,246, which is more than six times his currently weekly wage at Arsenal – £140,000 per the Daily Star.

The details of this issue – as outlined in El Periodico – are highly complex, but the Spanish publication do seem to suggest that Alexis is in trouble.

However, this issue is unlikely to affect Arsenal or the Chile international’s right to play for the Gunners.

If found guilty, one suspects another hefty fine will be in order though.
