Jose Mourinho’s start at Manchester United statistically worse than his two predecessors

Jose Mourinho’s first 16 games as Manchester United have statistically been less successful than his two predecessors.

Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol took to Twitter to reveal the full extent of Mourinho’s poor start to life at Old Trafford.

The appointments of both David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal were largely seen as unsuccessful, and ‘The Special One’ is actually fairing worse than the both of them.

His side fell to a 2-1 defeat this evening against Fenerbahce in the Europa League group stage. It was just the latest in a string of disappointing performances from United.

The man who won historic trebles at Porto and Inter, back-to-back Premier League titles at Chelsea and interrupted Barcelona’s period of dominance during his time at Real Madrid – has fast become a laughing stock.

United sit in eighth place in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Manchester City. After tonight’s defeat they are also in real danger of being eliminated from the Europa League at the group stage. Mourinho has a lot of work to do if he is going to turn his side’s season around.
