Arsenal talisman targeted by European heavyweights as contract talks stall

Alexis Sanchez is being targeted by Juventus and Manchester City as he is yet to sign a new deal with Arsenal, report the Mirror.

The Mirror believe that both Juventus and City have been alerted by Sanchez’s reluctance to extend his contract with the Gunners and are weighing up £50 million bids.

It is reported by the Mirror that Sanchez will have just a year remaining on his contract come the summer window. Arsenal may find themselves in a similar situation as in August 2012, where they were held to ransom by Robin Van Persie and subsequently sold him to rivals Manchester United.

The prospect of Juventus having a front-line consisting of Dybala, Higuain and Sanchez is mouthwatering. The Italian giants have already won five Scudetto’s on the bounce.

Seeing the Chilean international at City is surely a more frightening thought for the Arsenal faithful. Pep Guardiola’s side have played some of the most destructive attacking football in the league this campaign, adding Sanchez into the equation would be a huge dent to Arsenal’s title hopes.

The Mirror believe that Arsene Wenger is still hopeful of tying his talisman down to a new contract. This situation is certainly one to keep an eye on.
