Liverpool star misses warm-weather training as he is struck down with a virus

Daniel Sturridge missed Liverpool’s first day of warm-weather training in La Manga as he was struck down with a virus, report the Daily Mail.

Sturridge has had a stop-start season under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp. Roberto Firmino appears to be firmly first-choice to lead the line in Liverpool’s fluid front-three, which also boasts the supreme talents of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.

Despite the demise in his importance at Anfield, it is undoubtedly a worry for the Liverpool faithful that, according to the Daily Mail, Sturridge was not involved in training on Thursday.

The Daily Mail note that Liverpool have flown to Spain for warm-weather training, as they have no FA Cup fixture this upcoming weekend. The tabloid do report, however, that Sturridge remained in the hotel while the rest of the squad trained. They believe that the England international is battling with a virus, but should be good as new in a few days.
