Jose Mourinho plots shock Man Utd raid of Arsenal for £42.5m ace

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on a reunion with Mesut Ozil, and will swoop for the Arsenal playmaker this summer.

The pair previously worked together at Real Madrid before Ozil joined Arsenal in 2013, although he now has just over one year remaining on his current contract and there are real doubts over his future.

According to The Mirror, Mourinho is ready to take advantage of the situation by launching a shock bid for the German international, although it’s unclear as to how much it would take to prise him away after Arsenal signed Ozil for £42.5m four years ago.

It’s added in the report that Mourinho was furious when the creative ace was sold, but has remained a big admirer of his talents and believes that he could get the best out of him if they were to work together again.

It wouldn’t be a popular move with Arsenal fans though of course, as they will see this as a repeat of Robin van Persie joining their bitter rivals, although it ultimately worked out for the Dutchman as he got to work with Sir Alex Ferguson and helped deliver another title to the Old Trafford faithful.

It remains to be seen whether or not Ozil has a desire to play for Mourinho again, but there are certainly real question marks over his future in north London, especially having experienced a tough season on the pitch on an individual basis too.

The 28-year-old has struggled for form, particularly in recent months, and that has led to frustration growing from supporters over his lack of influence on the side and ability to get them out of trouble.

Coupled with Arsene Wenger’s future having yet to be resolved, it has been a frustrating campaign for the Gunners as they battle to make the top four. Time will tell if Ozil plans on staying at the Emirates beyond this season.
