Jose Mourinho plots shock £55m Man Utd move for Man City ace

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Sergio Aguero, and he will test Manchester City’s resolve with a £55m bid this summer.

The Red Devils will have to bolster their attacking options this summer, as ultimately they haven’t had enough goals from their current options this season.

With just 51 goals scored in 34 Premier League games, that’s the lowest tally out of the top seven sides, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury has further complicated matters with his contract expiring this summer.

As per The Sun, the expectation is that Ibrahimovic won’t return to the top level and so United will look elsewhere, with Mourinho said to be keen on making a £55m bid to prise Aguero away from City where he is now arguably expendable under Pep Guardiola.

With Gabriel Jesus having now emerged as first choice for the Spanish tactician, combined with the fact that he’s likely to splash out this summer to bring in additional firepower, Aguero may well find himself falling further down the pecking order.

In turn, it’s suggested that Mourinho could be ready to make his move for the 28-year-old, who has a sensational scoring record of 120 league goals in just 178 appearances.

It remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be done though as it will undoubtedly be a controversial one given the rivalry between the two clubs, and ultimately at this stage it would seem unlikely.

The report adds that Mourinho is also keen on £89m Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, and so it promises to be a busy summer for the Man Utd boss as he looks to build and improve on his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

Signing Aguero would be a major coup, but it’s really questionable as to whether City would allow the prolific forward to make the move across the City to their direct and fierce rivals, as if he is to leave this summer, it would surely be preferable to see move abroad.
