West Ham make new £85m decision on Lucas Paqueta

West Ham United will attempt to get star man Lucas Paqueta to sign a new deal this summer to fend off interest from Man City.

The Premier League champions are expected to return for the Brazilian ahead of the 2024/25 campaign having attempted to sign the midfielder last summer.

The deal would collapse as a result of an FA investigation into gambling allegations around Paqueta, therefore, Man City moved on to other targets and recruited Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers on deadline day.

City manager Pep Guardiola still wants the West Ham man and the Hammers will try to fend the Manchester club’s interest off by offering their player a new deal with improved terms.

Will Lucas Paqueta sign a new deal at West Ham?

According to Manchester City insider The Real Tolmie’s Hairdoo, officials within West Ham are ‘willing to sit down’ with Paqueta and discuss ‘lucrative new terms’ with the 26-year-old.

A new contract would see his current £85m release clause torn up, which would allow the London club to ask for a higher fee this summer.

The good news for City fans is that the Brazilian is unlikely to sign the new terms as he wants to move to the Etihad Stadium ahead of next season.

The West Ham star is a very talented player and it would be exciting to see what he could do with the stars Man City would put around him.
