Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is set for a trip to Madrid for Brazil’s upcoming friendly match against Spain.
These two international heavyweights will be meeting at the Bernabeu next Tuesday, with Guimaraes expected to start for Brazil after continuing to shine with his performances at club level.
It’s clear Guimaraes is one of his country’s finest talents, and this trip to the Spanish capital is perhaps an interesting one as it might be the kind of big fixture that has top clubs watching.
We’ve seen Guimaraes linked with the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City in recent times, and it will be interesting to see if he can put on a show whilst in Madrid.
Newcastle may have to sell for Financial Fair Play reasons this summer, so if Guimaraes can add another million or two to his price tag that might be useful for the Magpies in the long run.
It won’t be an easy game for Brazil against Spain, but if Guimaraes can impress in midfield against such high quality opposition it would certainly be a sign that he’s also ready to move up a level with his club football.
