According to reports, Arsenal and Manchester City have discovered the cost of Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause.

The 26-year-old, who joined Newcastle United during the January transfer window of 2022 after leaving Ligue 1 team Lyon, has been a vital member of the team.

The Brazilian international has been a consistent performer for the Magpies since his move.

He helped the Premier League club qualify for the Champions League last season and reach the Carabao Cup final.

Following his transfer to England, the playmaker has made rapid strides on the international front, starting regularly for Brazil now.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester City and Arsenal are aware of the release clause in Guimaraes’ Newcastle contract.

The 26-year-old, who previously said he is happy with life in the North East, is going to cost £100 million to prospective suitors.

However, it is recognised that the release clause is only valid from the end of May to the end of June, after which the circumstances around a potential transfer will significantly alter.

Bruno Guimaraes in action for Newcastle United

Newcastle would be in charge of determining an appropriate transfer fee for the Brazilian from July until the end of the summer transfer window in early September.

Premier League title race rivals Arsenal and Man City are expected to go head to head for the Newcastle United midfielder.

It could be a repeat of the Declan Rice saga last summer, which the North London club ended up winning.

Bruno Guimaraes has a long term contract at Newcastle

The Magpies are not in an a hurry to let go of Guimaraes since his current contract at St. James’ Park expires at the end of the 2027–2028 season.

However, Newcastle’s failure to qualify for the Champions League this season might play a role in the decision making of the player.

With a move to either Man City or Arsenal, Guimaraes would get the opportunity to compete for trophies every season, which he is unable to do at Newcastle at the moment.
