Valencia’s messy season is fast shoving them into the center of the January transfer market. With the club currently undergoing an institutional crisis, speculation on the players appear to be increasing with each and every passing day. David Albelda is thought to be close to making the move to Fulham and now Sky Sports has reported that striker Nicola Zigic too is on the verge of switching allegiance.
Sky Sports reports that the English Premier League trio Manchester City, Fulham and Bolton Wanderers all are interested in the tall Valencia striker. City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is monitoring the European transfer market for a striker while Fulham boss Roy Hodgson wants Zigic to give his side aerial supremacy. Bolton too are reported to be keen on the striker since they have lost Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea last week and are eager for reinforcement.
Zigic was signed from Racing Santander in the summer but he hasn’t been used much in the team. He usually warmed the bench when Quique Sanchez Flores was in charge of Valencia and even under Ronald Koeman he comes on as a substitute. It wouldn’t be too much of a problem to lure him away from the turbulent Mestalla.
