After bagging striker Nic Anelka, Chelsea have strenghtened their squad at the back too with the signing of Lokomotiv Moscow’s centerback Branislav Ivanovic for £8million. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s fat wallet ensured that they beat off interest from Barcelona, Juventus, and Manchester United to bag the defender.
The Daily Mail reckons that:
“Ivanovic, who can also play left back, has already secured a work permit and may make his debut in Chelsea’s Barclays Premier League clash at Birmingham on Saturday.
“His arrival is likely to speed Tal Ben Haim’s departure with Tottenham having expressed an interest in him.”
So with Tal Ben Haim on his way out and Ivanovic coming in, the Chelsea squad continues to improve!
