If you want to avoid speculation linking you with another club, it’s probably not a good idea to claim they are the greatest club on the planet! Clearly this Liverpool target wants to move to Anfield!
Real Mallorca midfielder Borja Valero admits that it is flattering to be linked with a move to Liverpool. The 23-year-old midfielder even claims that there is no greater club than Liverpool.
Valero is reportedly the candidate to replace Gareth Barry if Benitez opts for a ‘Plan B’. Borja Valero caught the eye of Liverpool scouts with his commanding performance last season. The 23-year-old player joined RCD Mallorca after being released by Real Madrid.
“There is no greater club than Liverpool,” he stated.
“I will remain at Mallorca until they tell me otherwise. If Liverpool say they want me then I am very flattered by it.
“Mallorca would have preferred to keep the bulk of the players that did so well last season but they are a selling club.
“I always want to win things and progress as a footballer.” (Kop-tv.com)
This whole Barrygate saga continues to go on and therefore, it is very wise for Rafa to consider other options. With Xabi set to stay, maybe they don’t even need this plan B, but clearly Valero is a fan and his comments suggest his head may have been turned by a move from the mid-table La Liga side to the giant that is Liverpool. Do Liverpool fans think that Benitez should just give up on the Villa skipper and go for the above option instead?
