Big-spending Stoke City line up £4.5million Reading striker

Quality over quantity appears to be the motto for Tony Pulis, who is looking to add a pretty decent striker to his Stoke City squad. This guy could easily hit double figures for the Potters next season.

Dave Kitson managed ten goals for Reading last season, who were unfortunately relegated on the last day of the season. The flame-haired striker managed 54 goals in 111 league starts for the Royals overall, and Stoke would be delighted to see him continue this strike rate for them in the Premier League. The Sun report that City are splashing the cash since they got promoted, with £4million Scott Carson supposedly close to signing.

STOKE are poised to shatter their transfer record for the second time in 24 hours with a £4.5million deal for Reading’s Dave Kitson.

Talks between the clubs are at an advanced stage with striker Kitson, 28, set to make an instant return to the Premier League following relegation last season.

The second phase of Stoke boss Tony Pulis’ spending spree comes a day after the club agreed to pay £4m for Liverpool and England keeper Scott Carson.

Kitson has scored eight goals by Christmas last season, although the goals dried up in the New Year, along with his team’s chances of survival. Nevertheless, the former Cambridge striker could form a decent partnership with Ricardo Fuller at the Britannia, do Stoke fans like the sound of this signing? And is it a dent in Reading’s promotion ambitions?
