It appears that Everton are not the only Premier League outfit chasing this Cameroonian international star as Arsene Wenger appears interested in putting in a bid.
Stade Rennais midfielder Stephane Mbia has revealed that Arsenal have emerged as rivals for his signature, however Everton remain in pole positon to sign the Cameroonian.
Mbia has been vocal about his intentions to move to Goodison Park, and stated this summer that David Moyes’ side had lodged an €8.3million bid for his services.
Rennes have failed to enter into transfer negotiations so far with any potential suitors, but it is apparent that they may lose the 22-year-old within this transfer window.
However, Mbia has muddied the waters by admitting that Arsenal are now vying for his services. (goal.com)
Stephane Mbia is a quality midfielder who many believe would be able to fill the gap left by Mathieu Flamini. He seems to have set his heart on a move to Goodison Park but could he be tempted by a move to the Emirates where he can get his first taste of Champions League football? Of course he is the latest in a long line of central midfielders linked with a move to north London and it’s hard to know exactly who Arsene will plump for, but it does seem after early-season performances that the club may well need to bring someone in, especially with Cesc Fabregas having to come back from injury. Do Gunners fans think Mbia is good enough for a spot in the Arsenal midfield?
