This long-running saga seems to have built up another head of steam, as Wenger’s players strongly advise him to make the signing that would surely be a perfect fit for the club.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is being urged to snap up Barcelona’s out-of-favour midfielder Yaya Toure … by his own players.
Gunners’ defender Kolo Toure – Yaya’s brother – and Cesc Fabregas are pushing for Wenger to sign the £7million midfielder, who can’t get a game under Barca boss Pep Guardiola.
Fabregas is desperate for support in Arsenal’s rookie midfield – “Sometimes I’m the oldest,” he said. “It’s hard to win with so little experience.” (The People)
Given that many feel that Arsenal lack experience players and some defensive-minded midfield know-how, Yaya Toure resolves the two issues perfectly. Wenger appears to be keen on adding some more older heads into the squad and, whilst Yaya is only 25, he has been around and has a good smattering of top level appearances.
The question now is about whether a) he is ready to quit Barcelona after seeing his first team chances hindered by the emergence of Sergio Busquets and b) whether he opts for Arsenal over the other favoured destination Turin giants Juventus. Do Gunners fans think that Wenger should go all out to secure Kolo’s younger brother?
