Tottenham blew the title race wide open and helped themselves back to the top four with a fantastic win at White Hart Lane over arch rivals Chelsea. Goals from Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale saw Harry Redknapp’s side ease past their Stamford Bridge opponents with imperious ease.
The win puts Tottenham back into fourth spot taking full advantage of Man City’s last gasp defeat against Man United.
John Terry was judged to have handled in the box, something the defender got away with against Bolton in midweek, and Defoe put away the spot kick then in form Welsh youngster Gareth Bale scored a fine second to put the north London side in the driving seat. John Terry was sent off half way through the second half for two bookable offences.
Chelsea then pulled a goal back through Frank Lampard in injury time to make things interesting.
