Belgian international set to discuss future at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are set to talks with their Belgian international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois amidst interest from Barcelona.
According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea are to sit down with 20-year-old Courtois’ representatives to discuss his long-term future with Barcelona rumoured to be interested in a £10million deal to sign him.
Courtois, capped seven times by Belgium, was signed from Genk in Belgium a year-and-a-half ago, but has spent that time on loan in Span at Atletico Madrid where he has impressed with his saves become a craze known as Thibauting.
Barcelona have been suitably impressed with Courtois that he has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Victor Valdes, who is expected to be sold in the summer, which has prompted Chelsea to open talks.
It is understood that Chelsea are keen to loan Courtois out to a Premier League team next season to give him experience of the British game, because he is unlikely to dislodge current Stamford Bridge number one Peter Cech for the next couple of seasons.
