Stamford Bridge looking to steal a march on their rivals in race for Colombian striker.
Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao according to The Express.
The Stamford Bridge side have reportedly been conducting a number of secret meetings with the Spanish club in an attempt to secure a deal for the Colombian striker.
Falcao has been in scintillating form this season and is becoming recognised as one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.
Chelsea have been monitoring the player’s progress for some time, especially after his European Super League performance against the club where Falcao hit a superb hat-trick.
With the season drawing to a close, and Chelsea’s prospects of Champions League football looking more secure, the club have begun preliminary negotiations with Atletico as they hope to secure the player’s signature ahead of their European rivals.
The likes of PSG, Manchester City and Real Madrid have all been linked with the player’s services, but it is thought The Blues are prepared to pay a £5 million premium to ensure they get their man.
Following negotiations at the weekend, it appears Chelsea have agreed a package with the La Liga side worth in excess of £50 million.
The two clubs have a good relationship with Atletico currently borrowing young Belgian goalkeeper Thibault Courtois from the Premier League side.
