Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has suggested he could be on the verge of a return to Stamford Bridge according to The Sun.

Chelsea are known to be in the market for a new manager with current interim boss Rafa Benitez almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season.

The former Liverpool manager has endured a turbulent relationship with the club’s fans and Chelsea appear set to look elsewhere come the summer.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that the Stamford Bridge faithful could see their dreams fulfilled with a return to the Chelsea hot-seat for the ‘Special One’.

Mourinho looks certain to leave Real this summer after a difficult season with the Spanish giants. They lost significant ground to Barcelona early on in the season and are unlikely to retain the La Liga title while Spanish newspaper Marca has reported unrest amongst senior players at the club with Mourinho’s continued presence in the Bernabeu dugout.

The Portuguese boss dropped the biggest hint yet that he is about to return to Stamford Bridge, saying ‘After England, Portugal, Italy and Spain, it’s not easy to find a new destination.

‘It could be a destination where I have coached before. There are things that may be about to happen no one could imagine.’

Mourinho seems unlikely to return with former club Porto as the club’s current boss Vitor Pereira has led the club to an unbeaten record in the Primeira Liga while his other previous club, Inter Milan, have publically backed young manager Andrea Stramaccioni.
