Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has insisted the club will avoid relegation according to The Sun.

The club put in an admirable performance this weekend in their game against Liverpool. Young Belgian striker Christian Benteke fired the club ahead but Steven Gerrard inspired Liverpool to comeback from behind and take all three points in a 2-1 defeat for the Midlands club.

That result has placed Villa back into the bottom three with just seven games remaining. There remains everything to play for though as they sit just four points behind 12th placed Southampton.

If Villa are to avoid playing Championship football, they will have to haul themselves out of the relegation zone for the fifth time this campaign.

Premier League survival is more important than ever this season. The new Premier League television rights deal is set to kick in next campaign and is thought to be worth a rumoured £60 million for each club.

American goalkeeper Guzan is confident the club can fix their problems before the end of the season and ensure they avoid Championship football.

Guzan conceded that he and the Aston Villa players acknowledged that their performances have not been good enough this season but insisted there were plenty of points still available to pick up.
