Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has postponed his weeding this summer as he looks set to complete a move to the LA Galaxy, reports the Daily Star.
The 34-year-old was scheduled to marry television presenter Christine Bleakley on June 12th but the pair have postponed the date as Lampard could be playing for the MLS club that week.
The England international has reportedly given up hope of earning a new deal at Chelsea, and although he had emerged as a shock target for Manchester United it’s the Californian club who are stepping up their efforts to sign the former West Ham playmaker.
The Galaxy are looking to bring in a new marquee signing as attendances have declined since David Beckham left for PSG in January. They had initially offered the England man a deal worth $5m but in an attempt to secure his signature they club have now upped their offer to $6m a year with hefty bonuses for two years.
Galaxy already have Robbie Keane on their books and want to recreate the exciting attacking trio that Beckham made up with the Irishman and USA international, Landon Donovan.
Lampard missed out on this weekend’s FA Cup semi final defeat to Manchester City as he failed to come off the bench. Despite his age he’s still managed to make 41 appearances this season, scoring 14 times.
