Brazilian defender praises Man City star’s ‘demonstration of charachter’.
Chelsea defender David Luiz has accepted the apology of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to ESPN.
The Argentine forward has received a lot of criticism in recent days after his horror tackle on the Brazilian defender during Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City at the weekend.
Aguero appeared to miss the ball entirely and instead enacted a game of hopscotch on Luiz’s back.
The tackle was a two-footed lunge with studs showing and Luiz was lucky not to walk away with a more serious injury.
Referee Chris Foy took no action against Aguero and instead opted only to award a free kick to the Chelsea.
Chelsea fans were further incensed after it was revealed that the Football Association would be taking no further action against Aguero as Foy claimed to have seen the incident at the time.
Aguero has since apologised on social media network Twitter and Luiz has praised the Argentine’s ‘demonstration of character’.
Luiz responded to Aguero’s Twitter apology with ‘Thank you Sergio Aguero for a demonstration of character. We get to know great man and athletes this way.’
