Cottagers boss denies speculation linking Fulham with Chelsea star.
Fulham boss Martin Jol has admitted he will be in the market for some new midfielders this summer according to The Metro.
But the Cottagers boss has denied speculation linking him with a move for Chelsea star Frank Lampard.
Fulham lost a number of their top central options last summer when both Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele made the short trip to White Hart Lane and Danny Murphy moved to Blackburn.
Members of the current squad, including Mahamadou Diarra, Giorgos Karagounis, Chris Baird and Simon Davies, are all out of contract this summer so Jol wants to use the opportunity to revitalise his squad.
That had prompted speculation that the Dutch boss might be persuaded to make a move for Chelsea’s Frank Lampard.
Lampard’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June and talks over a new deal have yet to begun.
It was reported in January that Lampard’s agent had been informed by the club’s hierarchy that he would not be offered a new deal.
That has come to the shock of many as the England star is currently the club’s top goalscorer in the Premier League this season.
But Jol denied reports linking him with a move for Lampard stating his belief that Chelsea will sign him to a new deal before another club comes in.
