Argentinian issues apology following reckless lunge on Blues defender.
Manchester City front man Sergio Aguero has said sorry for his horror tackle on Chelsea centre-back David Luiz during Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium, reports the Daily Mail.
The Argentina international was clearly seen launching a two-footed, studs-up lunge on the West London club’s defender midway through the second period of the cup tie, although referee Chris Foy did not take any action against the player at the time of the incident, simply awarding a free kick to the Blues.
And Aguero then escaped any retrospective action from The Football Assocation for his tackle after the governing body revealed on Monday that the man in the middle had after all seen part of the incident, hence his award of the free kick to Chelsea, although he had equally clearly not realised the severity of the striker’s lunge on his fellow South American.
However, Aguero has since taken to Twitter to apologise for his actions, with Brazil international Luiz thanking the attacker for holding his hand up and admitting that he was in the wrong.
