Frank Lampard has taken a step closer to joining the LA Galaxy this summer after convincing fiancé Christine Bleakley to join him and move to the West Coast, according to the Daily Mail.

The television presenter’s reported reluctance to leave the UK was thought to be a major stumbling block in the 34-year-old’s proposed switch to David Beckham’s former club.

Lampard is out of contract with the West London outfit this summer and they are still no nearer to offering him the one year extension deal that he so desperately wants.

Speaking in January, Bleakley made her trepidation known by saying: “I’m a homebird. Coming to London was a big deal for me.”

“I’m as far away from my mum and sister now than I feel comfortable with.”

However, it is believed that she is now on board with the idea of living in Los Angeles as a move to the MLS looks increasingly likely.

Whoever the new manager is at Chelsea this summer could still put a block on those plans, tough, and give Lampard another year at Stamford Bridge but with him turning 35 soon, the pro’s and con’s will need to be weighed up over how much he can contribute next year.

The England man may still get a chance to add one more trophy to his collection before leaving, though, with the club overcoming FC Basel in the Europa League semi final to set up a final date with Portuguese giants Benfica.
