Borussia Dortmund considering move for Aston Villa striker.
Borussia Dortmund could make a move for Aston Villa’s in-demand striker Christian Benteke this summer, as they look for a replacement for Bayern Munich-bound Robert Lewandowski.
The Belgian striker is also being targeted by Arsenal and Tottenham, but it is thought by the Daily Mail that Dortmund will step up their interest in the 22-year-old.
The summer signing from Genk has been a revelation at Villa Park this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions for Paul Lambert’s side, and almost single-handedly giving them a chance of surviving relegation from the Premier League.
His fine form has not gone unnoticed, and Dortmund see him as an ideal replacement for their star striker Lewandowski, who is likely to leave the club this summer. The Polish hit-man has been in lethal form this season and is expected to choose a move to Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich over Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea.
Dortmund have also been linked with Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko and Porto’s Jackson Martinez in a bid to solve their problems upfront.
They are also said to have made positive steps towards signing Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea, to replace another Bayern-bound player, Mario Goetze.
