Italian side ready to make move for Chelsea’s Spanish duo.
Napoli are ready to offer Fernando Torres and Rafael Benitez an escape route from Stamford Bridge according to The Mirror.
The Spanish duo are aware that their times at the London club could soon be coming to an end after both of them have failed to live up to expectations.
Benitez was appointed on an interim basis at the club and while it appears the former Liverpool manager was hopeful of securing the role on a permanent basis, it seems the club’s fans and management had other ideas and he looks likely to be replaced by Jose Mourinho in the coming weeks.
That is likely to spell the end of Torres’ Stamford Bridge career with the Special One unlikely to share the perseverance of previous managers with the striker’s misfiring form.
But Napoli are reportedly more than happy to take the pair off Chelsea’s hands. The club’s manager Walter Mazzarri recently announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season and the Serie A side have reportedly identified Benitez as the man they want to take over the reins.
One of his first tasks will be to try and prevent the departure of Edinson Cavani, but should he fail, the blow may well be softened should he be joined by his compatriot, Torres.
