Premier League new boys ready to offer Given Villa escape route.
Hull are preparing an approach for Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given according to The Mirror.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper is keen to seek a move away from Villa Park in the coming months.
The 37 year old stopper arrived from Manchester City for £3.5 million in 2011 but has found himself increasingly marginalised of late.
Given has been unable to dislodge Brad Guzan from the Villa starting eleven and is keen to secure first team football as he reaches the end of his career.
Given reportedly held talks with Villa boss Paul Lambert in recent days where the pair agreed it would be best for the former Newcastle stopper to move on from the club.
That could pave the way for a move to Hull, with Steve Bruce known to be a firm admirer of Given.
The Tigers boss has made signing a new goalkeeper his top priority as he looks to build a side capable of surviving in the Premier League.
Should Bruce fail in his attempts to bring in Given, he will likely look to either David Stockdale of Fulham or Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel.
But it is thought Bruce favours a move for Given as he is thought to be available for just £1 million.
