Former Stamford Bridge star does not believe the Special One’s arrival is certain.
Former Chelsea and England defender Graeme Le Saux has warned the Stamford Bridge side not to become complacent in their pursuit of Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho according to talkSport.
The Portuguese boss is widely expected to sign for the club in the coming weeks after the Spanish giants announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season.
Mourinho and Madrid came to a mutual agreement where neither side will have to pay the other compensation for the early severance of Mourinho’s contract, which could pave the way for a return to Chelsea.
Mourinho is the overwhelming fans’ favourite to take the Chelsea hotseat, especially after spending much of the season under the reins of the former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
The Chelsea faithful were not receptive to Benitez’s appointment, having never forgiven him for negative comments he reportedly made about the club during his time at Liverpool.
But Le Saux has warned the club they will need to fight for Mourinho’s signature.
Wealthy French side PSG are known to be keeping tabs on the Special One’s availability. They look set to lose their manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is being lined up as Mourinho’s replacement at the Bernabeu.
They could tempt Mourinho with the promise of significant backing in the transfer market and a bumper pay package.
