Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their bid to sign Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse, as his agent ruled out a move to Dutch giants Ajax, according to talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye in the Eredivisie this season, earning his first call up to the senior Netherlands national side with 12 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for Vitesse.

Ajax are known for their developing of young talent, and had hoped to lure the talented midfielder to the Amsterdam Arena, though his agent Karel Jansen ruled out a move.

“The chance that Marco goes to Ajax has become minimal,” he said. “Marco has a contract for two years in Arnhem, so then the story ends.”

Despite his contract situation, Chelsea are unlikely to be deterred in their chase for van Ginkel, and can offer much more money than Ajax in their bid to bring the youngster to Stamford Bridge.
They may be even more determined to sign him quickly, as they have taken some time to push through a deal for Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Andre Schurrle. A deal may have stalled between the Blues and the Bundesliga outfit, leading them to consider other targets.
