Jose Mourinho’s tasks of things to do once he arrives at Chelsea is increasing by the day. It is being reported by The Daily Mail that upon his arrival, Mourinho will be consulted on his view regarding the future of club captain John Terry.
Terry has one year left to run on his current £150,000 a week deal and is keen to extend it. But Chelsea are waiting for the arrival of Mourinho to sanction the new contract before making any decision.
Mourinho is widely expected to be appointed Chelsea’s new manager in the coming weeks after Real Madrid announced he would be released from his contract this summer.
The Special One is set to return to the club and take over from the Napoli-bound interim manager Rafa Benitez.
Terry is one of the few players who remains at the club from his initial spell in charge. It is expected that Mourinho will be keen to hold on to the likes of Terry, as well as his England former team-mate Frank Lampard, as the pair have both regularly expressed their admiration for their former mentor.
Chelsea are seemingly reluctant to offer their ageing stars new contracts. Lampard’s deal was set to expire this summer before the club gave in to fan pressure and offered the midfielder renewed terms.
