Southampton teenager to snub offers from big clubs.
Southampton youngster Luke Shaw is in no rush to move to a bigger club just yet, and will commit his future to Southampton by signing a new five-year contract, according to the Sun.
The 17-year-old has caught the eye this season with a fantastic debut season in the Premier League and the Saints’ first team. His performances at left-back have drawn comparisons with a young Gareth Bale, and have attracted strong interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Shaw has admitted via his Twitter account that he is a Chelsea fan, but he seems ready to wait and continue his development with regular first team football at the St Mary’s Stadium.
A source close to the club said: “Luke appreciates what Southampton has done for him and he feels it is only right to sign a contract at St Mary’s.”
Shaw is the latest in a long line of talent to be developed at Southampton, with the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being snapped up by Arsenal at a young age, and Bale developing into one of the best players in the world at Tottenham.
This young defender looks set to make a great career for himself as well, but the big clubs will have to wait before luring him away.
