New manager already setting his sights high.
Stoke City are reportedly prepping a surprise bid for Juventus full back Paolo De Ceglie, according to talkSPORT.
New boss Mark Hughes is already looking to make his mark and outline his ambitions early on, and he has been told by chairman Peter Coates that he will be backed in the transfer market this summer to mould the squad into his shape.
Hughes has targeted the 26-year-old to add some more culture to the squad in a bid to rid them of their anti-football tag and Juventus are apparently ready to sell the former under-21 international at the right price.
De Ceglie operates primarily as a left back but can also play further forward in a wing back role or even as a winger if needs be and has been told by the club that he is free to talk to others as he seeks more regular first team football.
With that in mind, Hughes is eager to talk to the Italian champions about setting up a possible deal.
De Ceglie began his career with Juventus in 2006 but was snapped up by Siena the following season. A solid year there was enough to convince Juve to bring him back but this season he has managed just 16 appearances across all competitions.
