Argentine youngster feels settled in Rome.
Manchester City and Chelsea are unlikely to land Roma youngster Erik Lamela this summer after the Argentine spoke of his desire to stay with the Serie A club.
According to Football Italia, the 21-year-old is enjoying his football with the club and has fallen in love with the city since moving from Buenos Aires in 2011.
“Am I staying? Absolutely,” he said when quizzed on his future.
“In fact, I am even more determined to stay at Roma. I feel at home here, have formed a great rapport with the people and love the food here too.”
After reaching top form for Roma this season he has attracted a lot of attention from the Premier League, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool all being linked with him at some point as well, and he looks destined for a great career in the game.
With 15 goals and 6 assists this season, he has been a key player for the team, though they only managed a somewhat disappointing 6th place finish in Serie A.
However, he is optimistic that he is in a team of young players with great potential, and wants to help the club climb the table next season.
“It’s not easy to achieve great results straight away with so many young players,” he said. “I think this squad is worth more than its position in the table would suggest.
“I was so happy to receive compliments from Francesco Totti, although I must above all focus on how to make Roma great every time I step on to the field.”
