Premier League giants eye Dutch youngster.
The agent of Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco Van Ginkel has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in signing the player but so far nothing has been agreed, Sky Sports reports.
The 20-year-old is currently on international duty with the Dutch under-21 side in Israel and he is thought to be being watched closely by the west London side. Ajax are also said to be keen, but Chelsea are thought to be frontrunners as the two clubs share an affiliation.
And the interest was confirmed by Van Ginkel’s agent, Rob Jansen, who said: “Chelsea are interested, we don’t deny it.
“But there are more clubs. Ajax had made official contact with Vitesse, but they don’t want to talk with them.
“The situation is that we wait until after the the European Championship and then will look for the best step.
“Marco still has two years under contract at the GelreDome, so we don’t know if he will leave Arnhem but there isn’t an agreement right now.”
Van Ginkel first broke into the Vitesse side in 2009 and has since gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals. He was named Dutch Football Talent of the Year last season and earned his first full international cap in November when he came on as a substitute during the friendly with Germany in Amsterdam.
