Bundesliga side Schalke claim they have not received any approach from Chelsea for their young star Julian Draxler, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old has had an excellent season in the Schalke first team, catching the attention of a number of big clubs such as Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

However, he put pen to paper on a new contract last month and looked to have committed his future to the club for the time being, though that did not stop speculation linking Chelsea with a move.

The Blues were reportedly willing to pay as much as £38million for the German international, but these rumours seem to be untrue following words from Schalke general manager Horst Heldt.

“I have heard nothing about it,” Heldt said. “There has been no official transfer enquiry from Chelsea FC incoming and we are also in no touch with that club actually.”

Draxler is one of many talented young players coming through in the Bundesliga at the moment, and Chelsea are also said to be chasing Bayer Leverkusen youngster Andre Schurrle.

The likes of Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus have also been linked with moves to the Premier League, with Manchester City said to be lining up an offer.
