Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz could be in line for a return to the Bundesliga after thee sides are reported to be interested in him following his release from Manchester City, talkSPORT reports.
The 31-year-old was one of the club’s high earning flops and was allowed to leave, alongside Wayne Bridge, to clear space on the wage bill and could be set to return to the Bundesliga now.
He spent last season on loan with Spanish side Malaga where be bagged eight goals in 30 appearances in a bid to prove his fitness after a series of long running knee injuries.
He had spent the season before that with Real Betis and his form in Spain has alerted a number of Bundesliga clubs prompting speculation to mount after he was expected to head to Brazil this summer.
Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke are all taking an interest with Hamburg sporting director Oliver Kreuzer even dropping a hint that his side may be prepared to make a move.
“Santa Cruz is an interesting player,” he said.
“If such a man is on the market, you should take care of it.
“Santa Cruz fits squarely into our requirements. He can play alone up front, hold up the ball and that takes a certain amount of experience.”
