Catalan giants set to make renewed approach for Liverpool goalie.
Barcelona are set to return for Pepe Reina’s signature after it became increasingly likely that they would lose their current goalkeeper Victor Valdes accoding to The Daily Mail.
Reina’s potential move has been contingent on the ongoing Victor Valdes transfer sage which has now been rumbling for some time.
Valdes caused shockwaves around the Nou Camp last season after revealing he was looking to leave the club in search of a new challenge. The Spanish goalkeeper revealed his intention of leaving Barcelona this summer, prompting speculation linking the Spanish champions with Liverpool’s Reina.
That speculation then died down when it was announced that Valdes would in fact see out the final year of his contract with Barcelona, reducing the urgency for the Spanish side to find a replacement.
But Valdes’ departure from Catalonia appears to be back on after Monaco made a move for his signature. Valdes is keen to be a part of the developing project at Monaco and has informed Barcelona officials of his intention to leave.
That has plunged Barcelona into the situation of desperately needing to sign a goalkeeper this summer, and they look set to finally make an official bid to Liverpool for Reina.
Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for the stopper having already lined up Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet as his potential replacement.
