Galatasaray keen to bring in Nigerian midfielder.
John Obi Mikel’s Stamford Bridge career is set to come to an end according to The Express.
The Nigerian midfielder is reportedly in talks with Turkish giants Galatasary over a £16 million move and could sign for the club in the coming days.
Galatasaray have been splashing the cash in recent times and have secured the signatures of the likes of Dutch trequartista Wesley Sneijder and former Stamford Bridge legend Didier Drogba.
The Turkish side are reportedly keen to build a squad capable of challenging in the latter stages of the Champions League and have identified Mikel as a player who can lead them to glory.
Mikel first joined Chelsea in 2006 from Norwegian side Lyn Oslo. The move was surrounded in controversy after it was reported that Mikel had agreed a deal with Manchester United only to go back on the agreement and sign for Chelsea.
Despite showing early promise though, Mikel has failed to fully reach his potential at Stamford Bridge and is reportedly ready to try his hand elsewhere.
Chelsea are reportedly looking to recoup the full £16 million they were required to shell out for his signature seven years ago.
It is being suggested that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will look to replace him with Roma’s Daniele De Rossi.
