Porto striker Jackson Martinez has denied that he is in talks with Italian giants Napoli regarding a summer move to Serie A, according to Sky Sports.

New Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has been busy since taking over at the San Paolo as he looks to reshuffle the pack following their second placed finish in the Serie A table and has become just one of a number of clubs to join the queue who are taking a closer look at the Colombian international.

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been linked with moves for the 26-year-old this summer, but have so far failed to follow up on their initial interest. However, Napoli are likely to be boosted by the cash they will receive for Uruguayan international striker Edinson Cavani, who has apparently traveled to Paris this weekend for talks with the mega rich Ligue 1 side.

But Martinez has sought to distance himself from a move away from the Portuguese champions as his Italian-based agent Giovanni Fiore insists the 34 goal hitman is focused on extending his stay in Portugal instead.

“This is a distant hypothesis right now,” Fiore said when asked about a potential move.

“There has been no contact. The priority is renewing the contract with FC Porto.”
