Marquinhos is one of the most highly rated young defenders in Europe.
Paris St Germain are close to signing Roma centre back Marquinhos for a fee of £30 million, disappointing Manchester United and Barcelona who had also been tracking the defender, Goal.com reports.
Talks between the two clubs are thought to be at an advanced stage and with the player having already agreed personal terms with PSG, the move will be finalised before the end of the week.
Reports suggested that Manchester United had placed a last minute bid for the defender while Barcelona had a £17 million offer rejected by Roma so it seems that PSG’s financial strength will be too much for both United and Barcelona.
Marquinhos is regarded as one of the best young centre backs in the world having established himself at the heart of Roma’s defence at the tender age of 19.
He may now line-up alongside another Brazilian, Thiago Silva but Barcelona are still thought to be interested in signing Silva, having nearly signed the defender last summer.
Barcelona are desperate to strengthen their defence this summer and after missing out on Marquinhos they will turn their attentions back to Silva and Arsenal centre back Laurent Koscielny.
