Cesc Fabregas- Barcelona to Manchester United
New Manchester United manager David Moyes desperately wants to sign a quality central midfielder this summer and he has identified Fabregas as his number one target. United’s central midfield has been an area of weakness for the club for sometime and Moyes is eager to sign a quality creative midfielder that will replace the recently retired Paul Scholes. The club have made a formal approach for Fabregas, offering Barcelona £26 million for the midfielder and will go higher if they need to. Fabregas has spent most of the summer stating that he wants to stay at Barcelona but reports suggest that in private the midfielder is considering a move to Old Trafford. Fabregas has struggled to break into the Barcelona first team since his move from Arsenal two years ago and is getting frustrated at the lack of opportunities for him to play in his favoured position. Things will be increasingly difficult for Fabregas next season as Barcelona have recently signed Neymar for £48 million, increasing the competition for places at the Nou Camp. Fabregas would be assured of a starting place at Old Trafford and he will need to be starting next season if he wants to be on the plane to Brazil with Spain for next summers World Cup. It may come down to how much Barcelona want to keep him and if the club do accept an offer from United, Fabregas may well be playing his football at Old Trafford next season.
