Five Flops Arsenal Must Sell This Summer

Emmanuel Frimpong

The 21-year-old may have the name and the haircut to make himself standout on the football pitch but it could be time for the Gunners to sell their combative midfielder after a difficult period on the treatment table. Frimpong made his first start for the Gunners against Liverpool back in August 2011 but his match ended in explosive circumstances as he was red carded in an overzealous performance. Since then the England U-21 international has gone on to make 14 appearances for the Emirates Stadium side but his last few years have been blighted by injuries. He was loaned out to Wolves in 2011 but after some impressive displays he picked up a cruciate ligament injury to end his season. Following his return from injury he has found first-team football hard to come across with Wenger’s side and has been sent on loan to Charlton before finishing the season at Fulham. He certainly has a lot of potential to be a solid Premier League midfielder but after spending 18 long months on the sidelines his development looks to have slowed and his off-the-field antics appear problematic. With interested parties in the Premier League and the Championship, it could be time for the Gunners to cash-on on their academy product to free extra wages this summer.
