Goodison Park side look to strengthen midfield.
Paris Saint Germain midfielder Clement Chantome has once again made his way onto Everton’s radar as the French international is desperate to end his misery with the Ligue 1 champions in order to seek first team football, especially after Marco Verratti opted to extend his contract with the club according to Foot Mercato.
Clement’s agent Stephane Courbis has broken his silence over the situation telling Foot Mercato that this is definitely an uncomfortable situation on his mind.
“This is a question to Paris. Why was he in the stands [against Bordeaux last Saturday]? Why did he not play against Real Madrid the other day?” Courbis asked.
“If there are opportunities to go elsewhere, we will consider it. We have already had discussions with PSG. We have adopted a policy from the beginning, we stick. After that, it is not a crime to say, after the match against Real Madrid and Bordeaux, you want to look elsewhere if you feel that you do not trust your club.”
“Clement has never said ‘I want to leave,’ he simply said ‘I want to play.’
When questioned about Chantome’s future club, Courbis then admitted Everton are interested, but “there are even several English clubs interested.” Those clubs are expected to be West Bromwich Albion and Fulham who both look to build on mid table finishes last season.
Marseille are yet another team linked with the 25 year-old but most reports so far have been incorrect which has been confirmed by the player’s agent.
“In France, there are two clubs [including Olympique Marseille] after Clement.”
