Brazilian under 20 international Lucas Piazon has been loaned out to Dutch club Vitesse – following the recent sale of their star Wilfried Bony to the Blues’ Premier League rivals Swansea City for £12million according to Goal.com.

Whilst the Dutch side did have more than enough to spend on a new striker, Piazon appears to be an adequate replacement in their eyes – despite the 19 year-old appearing to play a wider role than the Ivorian striker could.

Lucas is yet to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, but he has managed to gain a taste of first team football last season when he spent half a season on loan with Liga BBVA side Malaga – playing fourteen times in total.

The season prior to his loan move away, the rising star won Chelsea’s Young Player of the Year award after a good string of performances for the youth side showing off his flair and excellent finishing ability.

Piazon will now become Vitesse’s sixth signing since Peter Bosz took over as manager earlier this summer. So far they have only played one league game, in which they secured a 3-1 home win over Heracles Almelo last weekend.

Chelsea hope Lucas will secure the first team football he desires and needs to succeed when he is away from Stamford Bridge this season. It was very unlikely he would make it into the first team at all this year – especially after the arrival of German winger Andre Schurrle who joined from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
